Load cells are sensors designed to measure force or weight; they have played a critical role in measuring and weighing tasks in diverse sectors ranging from home to industry.

Mr. Shin, Hyeong-gyun, CEO of Dacell Co., founded Dana Loadcell in 1989.  It specialized in the manufacture of load cells and has still continued its business even though it moved the location, expanded the business, and changed its name to Dacell.  

Entering into the study of load cells at a company that put out electronic scales, he has accumulated his own technological knowhow through numerous trials and errors to successfully develop and supply sensors suitable for local conditions at reasonable prices.  And he had received orders from Taiwan, China, and other South Eastern countries at the same time of the establishment of the company, on which he could grow a load cell specialty enterprise. He said humbly, “He just had luck.  Twain and China were unable to produce load cells at that time.”  He continued to talk about his ensuing steps, mentioning that he had done research on products necessary in the market and benchmarked successful items to find more markets at the same time in order to adapt the company to the changes of the market.

Afterwards on, Dacell has included such items as toque sensors, multiaxial sensors, indicators, signal amplifiers, and push-pull gauges on its product list; thus it is not only selling the products in Korea, but shipping them for export to as many as 20 countries including Russia, the UK, the USA, Belgium, Turkey, Portugal, Morocco, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Syria, achieving recognition in its quality.

 Torque sensors differ in their characteristics depending on their type: in general, they are categorized into contact type that adopts brush and slip ring using a strain gauge and non-contact type that employs a transformer.   The contact type is characteristic of maintenance of stable outputs and selection of diverse capacities, while the non-contact type is suitable for use in conditions where high RPM is used.   Thus, torque sensors are used in testing equipment for vehicle motors, engine clutches, transmissions, and brakes, for testing of torque-fastening systems of bolts and nuts, for testing the performance of electric drives, and for testing the torque of industrial robots.
